Hello,
Next week Wednesday, May 30th, is our Community Field Trip.  Thank you to all who volunteered to join us! For those of you who aren’t able to join us all day, we will be eating lunch at 12:00 at Horseshoe Park.  If you have some time, feel free to stop down and join us! We know that this is a later lunch than usual for first graders but we will be eating several snacks on our stop at the Piggly Wiggly in the morning.  We are excited to learn more about our community and celebrate a fun year in first grade!

Reading: In reading this week we are continuing to talk about becoming a lifelong reader. This week we will talk about recommending books that you love, finding lifelong reading partners, and how they could create their own book clubs!
Writing: This week we are beginning our review of the different units we have done this school year. Today we wrote How-to's, we will write All About Books for a few days, and then Opinion. Students will help teach the lessons as they have become experts in these genres.


Math: We are taking our test on time, shapes, and measurement.  We will also be reviewing the past units and getting ready to take our end of the school year math assessment.  
Social Studies: We have begun our community unit.  This week we will begin our centers.They include building a community, drawing maps, learning about community helpers, and researching on the iPads.

Keep a bag of books handy to grab before leaving to watch a sibling play a sport. “Stream” a series - check out books in a series from the library. April 30th

Hello, Here comes May! I am hoping the weather cooperates and we keep getting those warmer temps. I am going to be sending home all winter gear that is still in their lockers: snow pants, boots, mittens, hats, etc. Be on the lookout for those. If you are still missing items please check out the school's lost and found, there are a lot of items in there!
